A truly magical journey! From Auckland we take a drive to enter a magic underworld! This tour includes some of the most beautiful natural scenery in Waitomo – and the intimate small-group cave tour, for many is the highlight of their time in New Zealand.
Then we drive further on to New Zealand’s highest city – to the rich cultural heritage and geothermal Rotorua.
After settling into our handpicked accommodation (4 Star Hotel or Boutique Lodge) there are so many options. We will visit New Zealand’s longest Treetop Walk. Redwoods Treewalk is a 600-metre long, eco-tourism walk in the heart of Rotorua’s Redwood Forest. Consisting of a series of 23 suspension bridges, traversing 22 majestic Redwood trees that are more than 120-years-old.
The next morning you will experience a Maori Cultural Performance and stunning geothermal activities like Geysers and hot springs. Enjoy the show of Maori song and dance inside Te Puia’s sacred meeting house – and you can learn the dance and the Haka!
On the way back to Auckland you will have another everlasting and remarkable experience – Hobbiton Movie Set – a place like no other in the world. We drive further on to New Zealand's rich cultural heritage and geothermal bounty in Rotorua. After settling into your accommodation we will explore New Zealand's longest Treetop Walk.
We visit Te Puia where you can experience Zealand's Maori culture and geothermal wonders. Te Puia spans 70 hectares within the historic Te Whakarewarewa Geothermal Valley, on the edge of Rotorua. Come face to face with Pōhutu Geyser, jumping mudpools, and live kiwi birds; watch master carvers and weavers at work, and hear the Te Puia guides share stories passed down from their ancestors. Experience a Pōwhiri, the traditional Māori welcoming ceremony. At Te Puia the concerts and cultural performances will not just move and entertain you, but enable you to ‘get inside’ our fascinating culture. Surrounded by the beautiful carvings of Maori ancestors, you will experience entertaining stories told through song and dance, with plenty of surprises thrown in.
We experience the Redwoods Treewalk, a 600-metre long, eco-tourism walk in the heart of Rotorua’s Redwood Forest. Consisting of a series of 23 suspension bridges, traversing 22 majestic Redwood trees that are more than 120-years-old. The height of the walkway ranges between 6 m and 20 m, allowing an elevated view of the forest below. Redwoods Nightlights features 30 lanterns designed by world-renowned designer and sustainability champion, David Trubridge. In addition to the lanterns, some of which are up to 2.5 m tall, there are more than 40 colour spotlights which transform the walk into a magical wonderland. We take a scenic drive from Rotorua into the rolling green hills of the Waikato district, with scenic stops for amazing photo opportunities while wee make our way to Hobbiton.
The tour of Hobbiton Movie Set is an experience to tantalise the senses of visitors from all across the globe, as guests find themselves engulfed in the sights, smells, sounds and tastes of The Shire, at the home of the Hobbits, as featured in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Trilogies. The extraordinary following that the movies have amassed has led to these tours becoming a must-do while travellers are in New Zealand.
Hobbiton Movie Set is the only set that remains intact from the trilogies. There are 44 Hobbit holes in total, all of which were reconstructed in 2011 for The Hobbit trilogy. Join us on a journey through the unequivocal beauty of the farmland.
